Re: Bay area Earth Quake
Felt goooood. :bear_tongue:
I was sitting on the couch, eating some leftover spaghetti and reading a book. I suddenly noticed I was sort of rocking side to side slightly on the couch. This was after a couple of Sierra Nevadas on a mostly empty somach, so I thought that might've played a role somehow, but then I noticed the beer in my glass was rocking, as well, and wondered if it was a small earthquake. I thought it might just be me shaking the end table somehow, but nope... it was shaking on its own. The decent shaking/rocking seemed to last maybe 10-15 seconds, with very small shakes for another 10 or so, and then that was that. Hopped back on the computer a couple hours later and confirmed that it was indeed an earthquake, and a decent one at that. I'm almost two hours from the epicenter so I'm assuming it was a little more intense closer to it. Family members I called who live much closer to it said it wasn't that bad... no damage anyway. |
Re: Bay area Earth Quake
it's 5.6
give me a 7 and then we will talk 5.6 bah |
Re: Bay area Earth Quake
Gotta love them Sierra Nevadas!
I buy those way out here in mass. |
Re: Bay area Earth Quake
a 5 point is a preshock to something bigger coming down the pipes. People wont repent until their roofs are on their heads.

Re: Bay area Earth Quake
It's not the magnitude of the quake as such, rather the location, direction of movement, and how prolonged the quake is.
A magnitude 5 quake 1000 feet under your house is probably going to level the entire neighbourhood. A magnitude 9 quake 5 miles down probably won't. The longer the quake goes for, the better the chance it has of dropping structures also. |
